Chemical peeling is essentially a chemical solution applied to the skin (face, hands, neck or legs), causing the desired burn, and ultimately exfoliating the spot. Depending on the size of the problem, the specialist will determine the depth of chemical penetration, which can vary between deep, medium or surface peeling. The acids used are usually glycolic acid (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA peeling), salicylic acid, lactic acid or a potent phenol solution.
After the treatment and depending on the depth of the peeling, redness and exfoliation will appear for about 4 days. In chemical peeling that is of medium grade and above, the whole skin regeneration process can take from 6 to 15 days.
